The 400 watt high pressure sodium ballast features for compatibility from 220-240 volts. For use with 400 watt lamps, this magnetic HID ballast boasts a high power factor of 90%, ensuring maximum efficiency. A temperature rating of 212 degrees F makes the ballast suitable for mounting in warehouses and manufacturing facilities where high heat may be an issue. Includes dry film capacitor, ignitor, and bracket kit.
A grow light or plant light is an artificial light source, generally an electric light, designed to stimulate plant growth by emitting an electromagnetic spectrum appropriate for photosynthesis.
The standard Sodium Lamp generates light in the orange/red spectrum and is perfect for developing flowering plants. When used as part of a two-lamp strategy (with a blue spectrum Metal Halide covering vegetative growth), results are always fantastic! Sodium Lamps can successfully be applied from cutting to harvest.
High pressure sodium (HPS) lights are the only lights comparable to metal halide growlights. They have good spectral distribution, but sodium lights can not compare to halide in the blue end of the spectrum. Just in the same way, Metal Halide lights can’t compete with HPS (high pressure sodium) in the red end of the spectrum. Sodium bulbs are particularly high in the yellow and red regions of the spectrum that light fruiting and flowering plants like best. Because of the focus on red light, some varieties of plants grown with sodium lights alone can become elongated and leggy.
