Why does fluorescent ballast burn out?
2013-02-17 12:48:16

Fluorescent ballasts appear burned out are caused due to a short circuit between coil turns, coil short circuit or excessive temperature rise caused. It is mainly due to: (1) of enameled wire has many pinhole (National Institute of Standards provisions allowed per meter pinhole ≤ 25 only) the enameled wire pinhole pinhole just on interturn, when the voltage is too high will to interturn short; (2) the use of high voltage or long-term use in exceptional circumstances, due to the the magnetic ballast voltage extremely strict, each additional 10V voltage current about 35mA; increase 20V voltage operating current increases 70mA, the 220V voltage operating current is 400mA, in 240V voltage working current is 470mA, in this case, generally do not appear burned, but in exceptional circumstances (ie starter short circuit) Lamp long start conditions, appear excessive temperature rise and lead to burn out. (So we usually find lit the lamp for long periods of time or starter for a long time in a closed state, you should immediately check the lamp has aging burn out or the starter has short-circuited, and should be replaced immediately, otherwise it will cause the high fluorescent ballast temperature rise to accelerate its aging, serious impact on their life even burned out.)
